Maple Hollow Farm started as one of Brian's 4-H projects and has now grown to a 225 acre farm which produces Polled Dorset and Tunis sheep. In addition to the sheep, we also graze steers and chickens. Brian and Melanie moved to their current location shortly after they were married. They started with open land and have developed it into a working farm which includes about 75 acres of pasture. The family now includes three daughters who are very helpful with the operation. Both Brian and Melanie work off the farm and so the operation is set up for minimal labor.

Our goal is to raise sheep who will thrive on pasture while producing highly desirable lambs for the meat market. The sheep graze from about April through November or December. During the winter months, the sheep feed on round bales of either haylage or dry hay. Whenever possible, the lambs are scanned for carcass characteristics. Loin eye sizes of over 3 square inches are common at just 4 months of age! We enjoy visitors, so give us a call to let us know when you would like to tour the farm.
